Innovation in medical therapy relies strongly on the availability of high-quality but affordable therapeutic molecules. The pharmaceutical and chemical industries are continuously searching for processes with a lower environmental impact, e.g. via the use of greener solvents, reactants, and for synthesis protocols allowing to limit the number of steps while safeguarding the purity and safety of the products.
The H-CCAT project devised solid hybrid materials that are superior catalysts for C-H activation on aromatic compounds and developed innovative procedures to produce and shape these catalytic materials in an economically and environmentally beneficial way. Catalysts were selected and developed starting from two material classes: Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) materials and Porous hybrid silicas.
