The MOF4AIR project is developing new carbon capture technologies based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). MOFs are porous materials with a high capacity for CO2 capture. The MOF4AIR project is developing MOFs that are also selective for CO2 over other gases, chemically stable under operating conditions, and low in cost. The project is also developing and optimizing CO2 adsorption processes for MOF-based carbon capture. The overall goal of the MOF4AIR project is to demonstrate that MOF-based carbon capture technologies can be used to capture CO2 from power plants and energy-intensive industries in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The successful development and demonstration of MOF-based carbon capture technologies could have a significant impact on the global fight against climate change.
